Last week I shared a Jo inspired version of my Finding Five post, and this week I’m sharing a Houston inspired one.
Houston needs our help right now as they begin the recovery process from Hurricane Harvey. I’ve compiled a list of ways we can be those helping hands!
New Orleans knows all too well how much devastation a hurricane can bring, and Fleurty Girl has created this shirt to help out the city that gave us so much support in our time of need.
“We haven’t forgotten that Houston helped New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina. Now it’s our turn to help them. 100% of the proceeds from the HOU DAT tee will be donated to Feeding Texas, an organization that serves food banks throughout the affected areas.”
I love this idea and ordered one right when I saw it! You can order one here.
*Chip and Joanna Gaines are also donating 100% of the proceeds from their “Texas Forever” shirt to Hurricane Harvey disaster relief efforts through the end of September. Find the shirt here!
I’m a big believer in giving to those in need, but I’m an even bigger believer in the power of prayer! These people need prayers for courage, strength, and patience as they go through this difficult time.
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you” Isaiah 43:2
All The Wire has created a cuff to support those affected by Hurricane Harvey. They are donating ten dollars for every purchase to hurricane relief. You can find this cuff (that comes in three different metals!) here.
Lots of families have been displaced by Hurricane Harvey and left with nothing. The Texas Diaper Bank is putting together kits for families in need, and they have created a wishlist on Amazon that you can purchase from and have it shipped right to them! Just add the item(s) to your cart and select “Texas Diaper Bank’s Gift Registry Address” as the shipping address. You can find the wishlist here.
I have a big place in my heart for our four-legged friends, and they need our help during this difficult time too! The SPCA of Texas has also created an Amazon wishlist for items they need during this recovery time. You can select “SPCA of Texas c/o Communications Team’s Gift Registry Address” as the shipping address for these items. Find their wishlist here.
As I’m sure is true for so many of you, Houston has been on my mind nonstop this week. Giving donations and support to these people who need it most can alleviate a little bit of that helpless feeling so many of us feel as they fight to recover from this.
Praying for Houston to rebuild stronger than ever!
xoxo
I can’t stop thinking about Houston! I’ve got quite a few friends whose houses flooded and I just can’t imagine!! It’s been so hard seeing their pictures. Prayers for all of them for a very long time!
