Happy New Year, friends!

I’m here today to share with you the books I read over the past few months and then pick my favorites from 2018!

I read 20 books this year and had so much fun sharing them here with you! Here’s what I’ve read over the last few months:

September

life lessons from matthew 2

Life Lessons From Matthew by Max Lucado was such a good Bible study read! It takes you through passages in the Book of Matthew and gives you interpretations, a devotional and questions to ponder. I realized that Max Lucado has written books in this form for a lot of the books in the Bible, and I’d love to continue reading them! This one would be great for a Bible study group read.

October

winter in paradise

I preordered Elin’s newest book Winter in Paradise back in October and read it in a little over a day! I loved Elin’s Winter Street series so much and knew I wanted to dig into her newest winter series as soon as I could! This book is the first in a three part series (the other two will be released in Fall of 2019 and 2020), and instead of being set on Nantucket like most of her books are, this one was set on the island of St. John! I loved reading about this new setting and really enjoyed the story line. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series!

November

the guest cottage

I read my first Nancy Thayer novel last year and couldn’t wait to get my hands on another one! The Guest Cottage is a story set on Nantucket where two newly single parents end up renting the same house for the summer. They work out the details and end up spending the summer together with their children in the house and tackle lots of adventures together. This one was a cute little read!

December

the last mrs parrish

The Last Mrs. Parrish was the last book I read in 2018, and I went out with a bang! Without giving away too much, the main character is a woman who is obsessed with Mr. and Mrs. Parrish. She sneaks her way into their lives and gets tangled up in a mess that she never saw coming. If you like scary books that keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time, this one is for you!

Since 2018 has come to an end, I narrowed down my top four books of the year for you (I tried to do top three and just couldn’t choose!):

the last mrs parrish

I just talked about it, but I’d have to say The Last Mrs. Parrish was my favorite book of 2018! Last year my favorite book was Behind Closed Doors, and this one had the same type of vibe. If you need a thriller, grab either one of these!

Girl Wash Your Face

This book stuck with me this year, friends! In Girl Wash Your Face, Rachel Hollis does an incredible job of using her own down to earth stories to encourage you, make you laugh and motivate you to really achieve your goals. She makes you feel like you’re having a conversation with her, which makes this one such a quick and easy read! I even went and saw the movie they made about this book in theaters. It’s a good one!

live fearless

I read this one all the way back in February when it came out, but Live Fearless stuck with me too! In Sadie Robertson’s newest book, she talks about using your faith to tear down your fears and truly live a fearless life.  Sadie encourages you to write in and highlight the pages, and I found myself highlighting multiple things with each turn. This is one that I’d definitely read again!

winter in paradise

I just talked about this one too, but Winter in Paradise was a hit in my book! Elin Hilderbrand always writes some of my favorite books, and this one did not disappoint. 🙂
